Brown rice generally is thought to be less delicious than white rice. Most people complain that the grains are too heavy, chewy, and sticky. However, brown rice is cooked longer than white rice. Many people do not know this and, therefore, may incorrectly cook the rice. When cooked properly and thoroughly, brown rice is just as delicious and aromatic as white rice.
Brown rice is healthier than organic white rice. It is full of more essential vitamins and nutrients than white rice.
How to Cook Brown Rice
Brown rice can be cooked in a pot, pressure cooker, or an instant pot. However, prior to cooking, the rice needs to be soaked in water, overnight or at least a minimum of 30 minutes.
Here we discuss methods to cook them:
1. By pressure cooker:
Start off by adding 2 cups of water for 1 cup of organic brown rice. Add in salt to taste (and any other spices/herbs). Close up the cooker and let it cook. Once the whistle starts blowing, let it cook for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and slowly let the steam out of the cooker. Once the steam is out, let it sit closed for a few minutes. Carefully open the lid and fluff of the rice with a fork. Serve and enjoy!
2. By Pot:
Start off by adding 1 and ¾ cups of water for 1 cup of brown rice. Allow the water to come to a boil. Add rice and allow the water to boil down on medium-high heat (about 45 minutes). Once the water has boiled down, cover the rice, and turn down the heat to low. Let it cook on low for an additional 10-15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it sit covered for a few minutes. Uncover, fluff, and enjoy!
